Gladys Hamill

Gladys Hamill has found a way to give something back to the community, while ensuring a financially secure future for herself. After talking to her financial advisor, she set up a charitable gift annuity with the Community Foundation. "I wanted to use my money in a way the whole community could benefit," says Gladys, "and it was so easy to do." Longtime Petoskey resident, Gladys and her late husband Jack owned Hamill's Carpets here for more than 40 years. Both loved the area, took full advantage of the nearby water for boating, and were active in a variety of civic programs.

Now Gladys knows some of her resources will live on, enhancing the town she proudly calls home. Her annuity pays her a fixed sum four times a year. And, after her lifetime, the remainder of that annuity will be used to establish the Gladys and Jack Hamill Fund — an unrestricted fund to support lots of worthy local projects — as well as the Gladys and Jack Hamill Scholarship Fund to assist college-bound students from our area.
